Reintroducing reframe52 in the new year!

Updated: Feb 26, 2024

As the near year starts, many of us make goals to achieve a vision. We at reframe52 also have goals, including launching our program this calendar year!

Part of our mission is to ask participants, and ourselves, to step back and see more. The longer you spend looking at something, the better you understand it - whether it’s a system of beliefs or a painting. In the new year, we challenge you to join us in both continuing to reframe our perspectives and discovering new points of view.

This week, we’ll reintroduce ourselves for those who are new to our work, outline our working definitions for you, and also provide some details about our program. Wishing all in our community rest, understanding, inspiration, joy, and motivation to spark change in 2023!

Who or what is reframe52?

reframe52 is a Software-as-a Service (SaaS) company founded by university-level educators Diane Sabenacio Nititham, PhD, Danielle Mužina, MFA, and entrepreneur Karen Chan. We bring our experiences as women, women of color, queer women, and children of immigrants to the DEI space.

We are focused on equity and intersectional equality, teaching people how to ask deeper reflective questions and equipping them with tools to seek individual and systemic solutions in their environments. Recognizing the low efficacy of conventional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and initiatives, we joined forces to develop reframe52 as a continuation of our past work focused on cultivating social awareness and creating a more equitable world.

Our Vision

Our hope for this program is that our participants will be better equipped to identify systemic injustices and inequities not only in their workplace but also within the communities they live. We hope that they will be empowered to take action to remove inequities from their environments and communities.

Defining DEI

Diversity:

Refers to differences across social categories and characteristics. Those working in the social and behavioral sciences examine the range of human experiences, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, class, disability, education, age, language, and marital and parental status, and how these are interrelated. In the context of equity and inclusion work, diversity attends to the ways that individuals of various backgrounds work towards goals of positive social change.

Equity:

Equity seeks to address differences in access, opportunity, and resources in order to redistribute them more fairly.

Inclusion:

Inclusion is the practice of intentionally engaging a spectrum of diverse people and voices in communities, institutions, workplaces, cultural practices, social activities, and legal/political processes that make all feel welcome. Inclusive practices include actively listening to and centering historically excluded and marginalized individuals and/or groups in order to strive for equity, accessibility, representation, and a sense of belonging for all.

Our Program

The reframe52 program is delivered through our custom app. It is self-paced and draws on micro-learning (a proven method to boost knowledge retention) by providing short/focused 20-30 min lessons. The program is intentionally structured to build progressively as participants define, access, and strengthen their understanding of new concepts, skills, and frameworks.

The most effective DEI training creates space for empathy and learning from the perspectives of those different from us. The introspective lessons and exercises in our program promote psychological safety– allowing participants to make connections from their own experiences (feelings of being left out, or misjudged) to the experiences of marginalized groups. This also mitigates the harm and emotional labor individuals with marginalized identities can experience when participating in training with others that are recognizing their privilege for the first time.

Our Social Media Presence

We post content every week on both Instagram and LinkedIn - if you support us on one platform, please consider supporting us on the other. reframe52 believes in growth through community - connect with us!

Our Plans in the New Year

We're looking forward to launching our app this calendar year! In addition to our program launch, we have plans to add more features and resources (i.e. reading lists, a DEI glossary, and more) to make the reframe52 app a "one-stop" DEI toolbox for all employees of the corporate and organizational clients enrolled in our program.
